Conifers grow fast, and leylandii are the worst offender. They can put on a metre or more in a single year, and once they are established, cutting them back hard rarely works because they do not regrow from old wood. The result is a tall, dense screen that shuts out light from your garden and your neighbour's, and that is one of the most common sources of boundary disputes we see. A conifer that has reached the gutters is not just a nuisance, it is a job that gets harder and more expensive the longer it is left. If trimming is no longer keeping up with the growth, removal is usually the cleaner, more lasting answer. Tall conifers close to a house, fence, conservatory or neighbouring garden cannot simply be felled whole. We dismantle them in sections, starting at the top and lowering each piece on ropes so nothing below is touched. We protect your lawn, borders, paving and any structures nearby with mats and boards, and we plan the access before we start so the timber and brash come out cleanly. Whether it is a single tall tree in a tight corner or a full row along the boundary, the method is the same: careful, controlled, section by section. Stumps ground out
Once the conifers are down, the stumps can be ground below ground level so the area is ready for replanting, turfing, fencing or paving.
